Faith Opens the Door

Be Encouraged!

God’s blessings aren’t earned by effort—they are received by faith. This has always been His way. From Abraham to today, God invites us to trust Him, not just with our words, but with our whole lives.

Galatians 3:14 (NLT)
“Through Christ Jesus, God has blessed the Gentiles with the same blessing he promised to Abraham, so that we who are believers might receive the promised Holy Spirit through faith.”

Reflection
It’s tempting to think that if we do more, pray harder, or live better, we’ll somehow earn more of God’s presence. But the gospel flips that logic on its head. The Holy Spirit—the greatest gift we could receive—is not a reward for good behavior. He is a gift for those who believe.

Faith has always been the way into God’s promises. Abraham believed God, and it was counted to him as righteousness (Galatians 3:6). Long before the law was given, before any rituals were established, God was already working through simple, humble trust. That hasn’t changed. What opened the door then still opens it now.

And what we receive by faith isn’t small—it’s the very Spirit of God. The same Spirit who hovered over the waters in Genesis, who empowered the prophets, who raised Christ from the dead, now dwells in those who believe. Not because we deserve Him, but because Jesus made the way.

Faith says, “I cannot, but Christ has.” Faith rests in His finished work and welcomes the ongoing presence of the Spirit. The more we trust Him, the more we experience the life He’s promised—not because our faith is strong, but because our Savior is faithful.

Application
Today, choose to walk by faith—not by fear, not by performance. Remind yourself that you are a child of promise. If you’ve placed your trust in Christ, then the Spirit lives in you. Ask Him to make that real to your heart. And when doubt comes, return to the simple truth: the door is open by faith.

References
Galatians 3:6 (NLT)
“In the same way, ‘Abraham believed God, and God counted him as righteous because of his faith.’”
Romans 5:1–2 (NLT)
“Therefore, since we have been made right in God’s sight by faith, we have peace with God… Because of our faith, Christ has brought us into this place of undeserved privilege where we now stand.”

Prayer
Father, thank You that faith—not performance—opens the door to Your promises. I believe in Jesus. Help my unbelief. When I’m tempted to strive or prove myself, remind me that Your Spirit is a gift, not a wage. Teach me to walk in trusting dependence on You. Let my faith be alive and growing as I lean into Your grace. Amen.
